Take a deep breath so you can come back even stronger.
Caring for a child with special needs can be deeply rewarding, but it also requires an extraordinary amount of time, energy, and dedication. At Kids On The Move, we understand that caregivers need moments to recharge, and that’s why we offer Respite Care—a lifeline for families who could use a break, even if just for a few hours.
Respite Care provides temporary care for children with special needs, giving their usual caregivers a much-needed pause to rest, recharge, and reset. Whether it’s for a few hours on the weekend or a scheduled appointment during the week, our team of dedicated caregivers steps in to provide compassionate, expert care while parents take a break.
Our respite care program offers families the chance to relieve stress, restore balance, and come back feeling renewed—ready to provide the best care for their child. Parents often juggle multiple responsibilities, and having time away can be crucial for their well-being. With our respite care, caregivers can take a well-deserved break to run errands, attend appointments, or simply enjoy some personal time to recharge. This program allows them to focus on self-care, pursue hobbies, or spend quality time with other family members, knowing their child is in a safe, nurturing environment. By utilizing respite care, parents can prevent burnout, maintain their mental health, and ultimately enhance the overall quality of care they provide to their children.

You can make a difference today! Whether it’s a one-time gift or a monthly donation, your generosity helps support local families in our community.
Respite care offers temporary relief to primary caregivers, providing short-term, professional care for children with special needs.
Our caregivers are trained and screened volunteers overseen by both a nurse and a KOTM staff member experienced in handling the specific needs of children with disabilities and delays.
Our evening program is free to families and funded through generous donations.
Because we have a waiting list, we currently offer one night per month to each family. There is an on-call list for families waiting for services.
For toileting needs, we have children of all ages who are completely dependent and need diaper changes. We also have children who are completely independent. When a child requires a diaper change or needs to use the restroom independently, two people are always present—a member of our staff and a volunteer. Children are allowed their privacy based on their ability to use the restroom.
Our program is limited to children with behavioral or physical disabilities.
