NOW OFFERING a Dandelion Nature Preschool Program

NATURE & ACADEMICS all in one outdoor, fun-filled program!

Society has been moving away from nature. More children play inside and are afraid of the outdoors. Video games are taking the place of learning how the plants we eat grow, the wonder of a butterfly, or how a baby bird learns to fly. Educational videos can’t take the place of watching a caterpillar change into a cocoon. Nature and humans have a symbiotic relationship, one can’t live without the other. It’s time to help our children learn about this spectacular life-giving force in a safe and nurturing way through a certified proven curriculum created especially for them!

Enroll your child today! The benefits are numerous. Here are a few: problem solving, responsibility, handle changes, imagination, respect, language, friendship, creativity, increase synapses in the brain for greater cognition, heal the heart, rejuvenate the body and mind, and so much more!

Spots are filling up FAST! Call 801-221-9930 (ext. 193 or 120) to enroll your child!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ages of children do you accept?

Children can begin care when they are at least 6 weeks old.  Generally, we provide care to children until they complete Kindergarten.

  • What is your enrollment policy?

When you place an application you will be automatically put on the waiting list until an opening is available at which point you will be contacted.

  • Do you have a preschool program?

Our 3-6 classrooms includes preschool learning activities such as, letter and number recognition, hands on activities, creative expression, social and emotional interaction, art, language development, and science.  Beginning January 2021 we have an 8:30-11:30AM and 1:00-4:00PM preschool for 4-6 year old children only, specifically designed for Social and Emotional Learning and Kindergarten readiness.

  • Will I be charged if my child is absent?

You will be paying full time unless your child is in a morning or afternoon 4-6 yr. old preschool class. If a child is absent there is no reduction of cost.

  • What is your discipline policy?

We teach and model positive discipline and behavior management and find many behavior problems disappear when we keep the child engaged in an enriched environment. No corporal punishment is allowed. If your child’s caregiver is concerned about your child’s behavior, they will talk with you to develop a plan for resolution.

  • Do you provide meals for children?

We provide well balanced and nutritional snacks and lunches.  Breakfast is served at 8:45AM. Lunch is served at 11:45AM and snack is served at 2:45PM.

  • What is your teacher to child ratio?

    Infants are 1:4
    Toddlers are 1:7
    Preschool is 1:13

  • Can I drop in at any time to visit my child?

Yes, once we are no longer under COVID-19 restrictions Kids On The Move has an open door policy and we encourage parents to visit or volunteer in the classroom. However we do caution parents that it is difficult for a child when a parent comes and then leaves without taking the child with them.  Emotionally for the child it is better to keep visits short and less often.

  • Do you accept child care subsidies?

Yes, parents who have access to a DWS child care subsidy can coordinate with the child care director to use these funds toward the cost of child care services.

  • Do you take special needs children?

It is the policy of KOTM to accept children without discriminating against race, sex, religion, disability, or national origin.  KOTM works to accommodate children with disabilities as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.  If parents feel their child needs accommodations under this law, they should speak with the Child Care Director. The legal reasons a child care program may deny care to a child with a disability would include taking the necessary steps to accommodate the child’s special needs would impose an undue burden on the provider, or would fundamentally alter the nature of the program or the facility, and there are not reasonable alternatives that are readily achievable.

  • What is your sick policy?

Our staff understands that it is difficult for working parents when their child is sick. However, it is important for us to maintain the health and well being of all children and staff. We will either not accept a child or call the parent to come pick up their child:
If a child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher
If a child has a sore throat
    If a child vomits
If a child has diarrhea twice in an hour
If a child has an unexplained rash, suspected pink eye or any other contagious illness
If a child is extremely irritable or lethargic

  • Does my child need to be potty-trained?

The 3 year old class can have up to four non-trained children at a time. The 4-5 year olds must be potty-trained.
