BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Our Board of Directors are an impressive group of individuals. These board members volunteer their time and expertise to ensure that public and private monies are well spent and that quality services are provided to the children and families we serve.

CHRISTY ANDERSON

BOARD CHAIR - ACUTE CARE NURSE PRACTITIONER

Christy has been in the nursing profession for twenty years and has spent the last twelve as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at Utah Surgical Associates. Christy and her husband have been married for nineteen years and have a sixteen-year-old daughter and an eleven-year-old son.  Her son was diagnosed with high-functioning autism when he was two years old and benefited greatly from the Early Intervention services at Kids On The Move.

KIM SANTIAGO

CHAIR ELECT - REGISTERED NURSE

Kim Santiago is married to Brian Santiago and is the mother of four children. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has worked as an Oncology Nurse. She is a former Provo City Council Woman and currently serves on various boards in Utah County to help connect families and individuals with resources in our community.

JONATHAN KREIN

PAST CHAIR - CONSULTANT

Dr. Jonathan Krein is Chief Scientist of Data Science & Software Engineering at Crimson Vista, an active consultant in the software industry, and Co-founder and Managing Partner of Source Code Discovery, a consulting firm specializing in the review and analysis of software systems and source code for intellectual property litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and various cyber-security needs. Dr. Krein has previously served as CTO and CEO of Kinpoint, Inc., a genealogy software company, Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Brigham Young University, Research Scientist at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, and professional Software Engineer for the Office of Information Technology at BYU. Dr. Krein has served on the Board of Directors for Kids On The Move since 2016, and prior to that worked with Friday’s Kids Respite (which now operates as a program under KOTM) since 2007, including serving on FKR’s board (2013-2016).

RICHARD RIFE

SECRETARY - CORPORATE ATTORNEY

Richard Rife has had a 40-year career as a corporate attorney with an international focus, serving as EVP and chief legal officer for several large corporations, including a publicly traded company. He also worked for a time as the chief privacy officer of a large, multi-national organization. He received his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from BYU. Richard has served on the Board of KOTM since 2015.

JON STANDING

PROGRAM COMMITTEE CHAIR - EDUCATOR

Jon Standing is a special education teacher in the Alpine School District.   He’s been teaching a 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade special life skills class for children with special needs for 29 years.  He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors and masters degree in special education and received an educational leadership endorsement from Southern Utah University.  He and his wife, Robyn, enjoy being empty nesters.  They love spending time with the families of their three children and especially the grandchildren.

ROBERT PARSONS

EXECUTIVE VP AND CFO

Robert Parsons received his MBA from Brigham Young University in 1981 and earned his bachelor’s degree from the same alma mater in Accounting. He has worked as a strategy and business developer as well as chief financial officer of multiple companies. Mr. Parsons has served as a member of the board of directors of Kids On The Move since 2017.

KAI KHASBAATAR

H.I.M. ANALYST SENIOR

Kai Mashlai is a biologist, creative thinker, and volunteers at every opportunity to help others. As a board member, Kai is responsible for all aspects of board business, including decision making of KOTM. She is assistant professor for Mongolian language and Culture in College of Humanities department, and works on special projects of Food Safety cooperation with Mongolian Agricultural Department Rutherford at Brigham Young University. She currently works as a mentor for women who needs help to find their self-esteem, worth, growth, and confidence at a private university. She has a life-long love for education and is eager to serve under-privileged, under-educated women and children, including her present role as a board member of KOTM. She earned undergraduate degrees in Science of Biology (PreM). She and her husband Achka live in Saratoga Springs, with their four beautiful children.

ERNIE BAILEY

PEDIATRICIAN

Dr. Bailey is a rural Utah native who has chosen to stay in his beloved home state. When he’s not working, he’s attending family reunions, going to church, reading with his kids and watching them play sports, getting exercise by running or hiking, or doing repairs to keep his home in ship-shape. Helping children get well and live healthy lives is incredibly rewarding to him, and it’s a bonus when patients are excited to see him. He specializes in infectious disease and nutrition and likes to work with children of all ages.

ALBERTO PUERTAS

ACADEMIC ADVISOR

Alberto Puertas is an academic and career advisor for the Center for University Advising at Brigham Young University. His responsibilities include serving as an International Specialist Advisor on campus; teach courses in career strategies, career exploration, and effective learning; monitor at-risk students and collaborate with the University in promoting career development topics and goals. Alberto adds to his academic work, his service as Director of the Advisory Board of the BYU Hispanic Management Society Chapter and his function as Mentor of the Student Association of the Andean countries of BYU.

Brennan Tolman is a serial entrepreneur. He specializes in teaching photographers around the globe.

Mat Dastrup, CFO

Mat Datstrop, Chief Financial Officer at KOTM, truly embodies a blend of expertise and visionary leadership. Joining Kids on the Move in September 2019, Mat brought a rich history of accomplishments, having served as CFO for manufacturing and software companies. His successful track record includes starting and selling three businesses, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and strategic insight. As a licensed CPA and a Six Sigma Black Belt, Mat’s skill set is uniquely suited to driving innovation and accuracy within financial processes. His passion for integrating technology and developing robust accounting systems positions KOTM for long-term success. In his role, Mat is deeply dedicated to creating sustainable impacts that will echo throughout KOTM for decades. His presence in the organization is marked by a steadfast commitment to fostering an environment of lasting change, ensuring families benefit from his transformative work well into the future.

Ryan Erickson, COO

Ryan Erickson, the Chief Operating Officer of KOTM, brings a wealth of experience and a passionate commitment to nurturing innovation and growth. With over two decades spent as a thought leader and innovator in executive leadership roles across the medical, technical consulting, and information technology sectors, Ryan’s expertise is unparalleled. His dedication to mentoring entrepreneurs and CEOs on transforming ideas into reality speaks to his compassionate nature and deep-seated commitment to growth. Ryan views his role at KOTM as a unique opportunity to guide the organization into its next 40 years, shaping a resilient and forward-thinking future. Rachelle Rutherford, CEO

Rutherford is the strategic visionary and Chief Executive Officer of Kids on the Move (KOTM). A multifaceted and sophisticated businesswoman, she has led the trailblazing multimillion-dollar non-profit in its commitment to providing essential and comprehensive support, education, and therapies for children with delays and disabilities.  Rutherford has now spent 20 years in executive leadership roles within the telecommunications, genealogy, real estate, health care services, and education industries. Her notable contributions lie in her perseverance to find impossible and impactful solutions. Rutherford is skilled at reverse-engineering goals by mapping out exactly what is required for a successful outcome.

To help raise $150M to expand KOTM’s support services and establish a state-of-the-art center, Rutherford has partnered with Forbes Books to author and publish Chasing The Impossible, a captivating exposé delving into Kids on the Move’s transformative work. With it, she uncovers the compelling stories of resilience and hope from children, families, doctors, and community members who tenaciously pushed forward when faced with impossible odds or challenges.

Her profound understanding of what it takes to overcome the impossible stems from her own journey as a survivor of abuse and trauma, which has shaped her philanthropic missions, her intuitive nature, and her steadfast leadership. As a CEO, mom, speaker, and philanthropist, Rutherford believes discipline is one of the highest forms of self-love, consistently putting in the necessary work every single day to provide impactful solutions for others, promote a balanced and holistic lifestyle, and create opportunities for continuous growth and empowerment around the world.
